Research and Consulting Services

A trained photographer with an interdisciplinary background that spans art, communication and anthropology, I received my PhD from the Department of Communication at the University of California, San Diego. Currently an Instructor in the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida, my research interests are situated at the intersections of health communication, disability studies and cultural studies. I draw from a qualitative, mixed-methods framework. My grounding in communication theory has provided an important platform for exploring the shifting discourses and practices shaping illness and disease across time and place.

As an academic, I am uniquely positioned to help individuals, organizations, and businesses with their writing, editing, and research needs. I have consulted on a range of projects, including: content development for a written history of a interdisciplinary research laboratory; research for a monograph on diversity in children’s mental health; program development for a distance learning graduate certificate coursework in children’s mental health; content editing; grant writing; and more.
