A trained photographer with an interdisciplinary background that spans art, communication and anthropology, I received my PhD from the Department of Communication at the University of California, San Diego. Currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida, my research interests are situated at the intersections of critical health communication, disability studies and cultural studies. I draw from a qualitative, mixed-methods framework. My grounding in communication theory has provided an important platform for exploring the shifting discourses and practices shaping illness and disease across time and place.
